{"id":1044,"date":"2012-07-06T14:20:12","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T14:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.thinmanager.com\/thinclients\/?p=1044"},"modified":"2012-07-27T14:48:04","modified_gmt":"2012-07-27T14:48:04","slug":"mailbag-friday-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.thinmanager.com\/thinclients\/?p=1044","title":{"rendered":"MailBag Friday (#9)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-901\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thinmanager.com\/thinclients\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/logo-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"106\" \/>Every Friday, we dedicate this space to sharing solutions for some of the most frequently asked questions posed to our ThinManager Technical Support team. \u00a0This weekly feature will help educate ThinManager users and provide them with answers to questions they may have about licenses, installation, integration, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and daily operation. \u00a0Great technical support is an essential part of the ThinManager platform, and we are constantly striving to make your environment as productive and efficient as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Q-<\/strong>\u00a0I saw your blog last week about the USB to VGA I can use with my ThinManager 6 Platform. \u00a0Are there any tech restrictions? \u00a0Will it support USB to DVI as well?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0ThinManager 6 supports the new USB to VGA functionality with any thin client supported by ThinManager using an adapter with a DL-195 chipset. \u00a0In addition, if the adapter comes with a VGA to DVI extender, ThinManager supports that as well.<\/p>\n<p>-TM<\/p>\n<p>__________________<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Q-<\/strong>\u00a0I was looking at my ThinManager today and noticed that some of the Terminal Server icons in the system tree had a green colored indicator while others were red. \u00a0Can you tell me what that means?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0The red icon means that the ThinServer service cannot connect to the terminal server and access the load info on the terminal server. \u00a0It doesn&#8217;t mean that the terminal server can&#8217;t host sessions, it just means that the thinserver can&#8217;t talk to it. \u00a0Often this is a case of a lack of permissions, DCOM errors, or a difference in permissions between Server 2003 and Server 2008.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There are a couple of issues and a few tech notes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>1) \u00a02008 has different security structure than 2003. DCOM is often incompatible.
