Please see this MS TechNote on Remote Desktop disconnect/reconnect settings for 2008 r2:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754272.aspx

An alternative would be to disable the screen lock timer, which would prevent the device from sleeping.
-TM

Can I get one thin client (Arista 3200-AP) to display the same display client on multiple monitors using a USB to VGA adaptor without mirroring or spanning? I have Wonderware Intouch configured as a display client and I want one thin client to put that display client on each monitor. That would give the operators the ability to view two different Intouch windows simultaneously. Can this be done?

You could add another DisplayClient that is a duplicate of the display client you would like to use (same path, command line arguments, etc). When you come to the “Display Client Selection” screen when reconfiguring the Terminal, you will need to set an override for the user/pass on the second display client. By default, ThinManager uses the user/pass specified at the terminal level to login to your terminal server. If you have multiple identical sessions (defined as a user/pass and initial application combo) connecting to a server, the first session will be established and the second will connect to the established session, thusly booting the first session off. When the first goes to reconnect it will take bake its original session.

An override will allow a separate user/pass to be specified to avoid bouncing sessions. The user/pass specified should be a valid windows account, whether on your AD or locally to the terminal server because it will be used to log into your terminal server.

-TM

We are using WinTMC to control our terminal server in our control room through a desktop computer. We have thin clients installed in the field that connect to this server as well. Our problem is with using WinTMC and using multiple monitors. Our monitors are 27” widescreen monitors set to a resolution of 2560 x 1440, so there are no available selections in the setup to allow for this format. Is there was a way to use WinTMC to drag and drop the sessions as you would do an internet explorer screen? This screen currently is not movable on this screen. If there is any way to move this on the screen or any way to help us make the system work for application it would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple of options. If you have configured the WinTMC terminal for multi-monitor support, you can disable MultiMonitor and then move the WinTMC program around just like a normal program. If you really want to use multi-monitor support in ThinManager then set the video mode to “Full Screen”
-TM

Are you familiar with any app that would “lock down” the basic iPad functionality (settings, etc) such that our plant users would only be able to run just iTMC? We are looking for the same user experience as on a thin client with app links. Maybe a menu app that auto-launches and needs a password to exit, etc?

With the release of iOS 6, and the “Guided Access” feature, this can be done via the basic functionality of the operating system. Please refer to the following blog article, which also contains a link to a short video which demonstrates how to set this permission:

http://blogs.thinmanager.com/thinclients/?p=1638
-TM

__________________________________________

To review the cost savings of using the ThinManager Platform, visit our ROI Calculator here.

To read about successful ThinManager Platform deployments, visit here.

To see when the next ThinManager 2-Day Training Session is being offered, visit here.

Every Friday, we dedicate this space to sharing solutions for some of the most frequently asked questions posed to our ThinManager Technical Support team. This weekly feature will help educate ThinManager Platform users and provide them with answers to questions they may have about licenses, installation, integration, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and daily operation. Great technical […]

[22,23,59
48,105,89,125,3,77,30,106,33,104
post-1815","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-education","category-general","category-real-world-thinmanager","tag-acp","tag-arista","tag-itmc","tag-multimonitor","tag-thin-client","tag-thin-client-management","tag-thinmanager","tag-windows-server","tag-wintmc","tag-wonderware
["GET
