Every Friday, we dedicate this space to sharing solutions for some of the most frequently asked questions posed to our ThinManager Technical Support team. This weekly feature will help educate ThinManager Platform users and provide them with answers to questions they may have about licenses, installation, integration, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and daily operation. Great technical support is an essential part of the ThinManager Platform, and we are constantly striving to make your environment as productive and efficient as possible.
We don’t have a separate stand alone application for the RFIdeas card scanners, but we do have a module that can be configured at the terminal level. You want to find the “RF Ideas pcProx Module” or “RF Ideas pcProx USB Module”. This will integrate nicely with TermSecure, the details of which may be found on page 450 of the ThinManager Manual:

Is it mandatory to have Remote Desktop Role installed in ThinManager Servers even if they will not serve any application? We already have a separate Terminal Server where the HMI applications will be hosted.
It is not required. You only need the RDS role installed on your application servers.

We looking to deploy an Arista thin client with a display that has the eGalaxTouch touchscreen integrated with it. The thin client does not include any serial ports, and current 5.0.6 version of the eGalaxTouch driver does not appear to have a USB option. Is there any way to get the USB option on that touchscreen driver??
You should have a module entitled: USB Touch Screen Driver. If you add this module and restart the terminal, the Terminal will look for compatible USB Touch Screens.

I am running a current install of ThinManager 6.0 and want to properly apply Service Pack 1. Do I disable synchronization? Anything else I need to know when upgrading a live system??
– Disable synchronization
– Backup your configuration
– Upgrade your servers
– Enabled synchronization
– Reactivate your master license
It’s generally a fairly simple process.
