Every Friday, we dedicate this space to sharing solutions for some of the most frequently asked questions posed to our ThinManager Technical Support team. This weekly feature will help educate ThinManager users and provide them with answers to questions they may have about licenses, installation, integration, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and daily operation. Great technical support is an essential part of the ThinManager platform, and we are constantly striving to make your environment as productive and efficient as possible.
Q- I have a thin client that will not display full screen at 1920×1080 resolution. It works at both higher and lower resolutions. I am using an Arista AP-3200 thin client. I have already updated the firmware but the issue persists. How can I fix this?
A – First, try testing ti at different refresh rates. If you’re currently using 1920×1080 at 60Hz, try 65, 70, etc.
If that doesn’t work, you can try the Custom Video Mode Module. Add it to the terminal that is having issues and click configure. Change the video mode type to one of the ATSC-1080-xx or Extended Widescreen modes.

Q- What is the correct procedure for backing up and subsequently restoring the configuration of ThinManager?
A – To schedule backups see http://www.thinmanager.com/technotes/07_Features/ScheduleConfigurationBackups.pdf
(A green square in the lower right hand of ThinManager means that the ThinServer is working (loading the configuration) and you can’t input into ThinManager until it is done and the light turns off.

Q- After deploying ThinManger 3.0 years ago and upgrading multiple times to current version 5.0,, we have numerous entries and memory allocations on the add / remove programs screen. Is this normal?
A – This is normal if you have upgraded from an older version of ThinManager to a new one. The listings for ThinManager without an icon are the Service Packs from the previous versions.

Q- If I have ThinManager v6.0 and a WinTMC client, can VNC software still co-exist on the same client PC?
A – VNC uses 5900, as does our shadowing. It can lead to conflicts if you try to do both so we let you change our shadow port.
