Jim Scranton

Regional Sales Manager – East Canada

It’s no accident that Jim ended up working in the technology industry all of his life. Jim grew up in Southern Ontario with stories of mainframes and enterprise software around the dinner table as his father was an Industrial Engineer and General Manager of IT for a steel manufacturer. Upon completion of high school, he enrolled in the University of Waterloo. While he studied Economics as his major, UW’s culture as a center for Computer Science and Engineering continued to prepare Jim for his professional life in technology.

When Jim graduated from Waterloo, he joined Digital Equipment Corporation and was introduced to the world of an engineering driven technology when he worked within the manufacturing industry for 2 years. With the advent of deregulation of the Canadian telecommunications market, Jim joined AT&T Canada, leveraging the IP networking knowledge he had gained at DEC to sell WAN and voice services into the manufacturing, distribution, and financial services markets across the country. Explosive growth within the telecommunications market led Jim to Telco start up, Group Telecom, providing wholesale services to competitive carriers, then returning his focus to global manufacturing customers with time spent working for Deutsche Telekom and BT. Seeking an interesting new challenge, Jim spent his most recent 6 years with Canada Post contributing to efforts focused on building a digital delivery arm of the post ‘in the cloud’.

Jim lives in Liberty Village in the heart of downtown Toronto. When not immersing himself in business and technology, he can usually be found playing with his wife and children in the parks and enjoying the local culture of West Queen West.
